The anime doesn't exist to get adult nerds "hhyyppeeedd!!" , they exist to keep the franchise on-air for overall synergy. Tv Tokyo flat out said that at it's worst ratings Pokemon still makes lots of money due to licensing the anime worldwide.

Personally, I want the Anime to go back to the more classic art; like in Kalos. Alola's art, alongside its poor writing, really ruined the spirit of Pokemon. No wonder the movies from this Generation didn't follow the Anime at all.
