Then he took it to the next level starting in gen 3.
Somewhere along the way they seemed to also get the idea that we truly cared about the story when making fun of it.
When in reality no one particularly cared about the story to begin with. If we did we wouldn't have played gen one or two in the first place which had so little.
Instead of finding the sweet spot of exploration and story they wanted us to stop making fun of their story when that's never going to happen.
Now we have Ohmori who is basically the worst of both worlds. The games were basically being run by Masuda and Sugimori and Ohmori has their worst traits.
