God dammit Gamefreak! They're really dropping the ball with SwSh.

I really wished I didn't watch this video. Quite frankly i'm just tired of complaining about this damn game.

cliffs of the video; All attack animations during dynamax use the same "splash" effect. Ex, all fighting moves look the same all fairy moves look the same etc.

It just keeps getting worse and worse.

Particular animations for Max Raid battle makes sense to me. We have animations that lag in something as measly as double battles, doing fancy effects from the normal animations in the mode would like fuck up performance and fuck up the camera angles, which are clearly focusing on keeping the whole team and the giant Pokemon on-screen at all times.

Unless you think Gamefreak should've animated all hundreds and hundreds of movies with two different animations to be used for that mode?

PBR never ever ever had a situation where they had to deal with a particular giant-pokemon battle mode with it's own visual and performance needs. Besides the game STILL has all animations made for non-max-raid battle enviroment. You retarded cucks whine about the tail whip animation, but Sword and Shield's tail whip is still more effortful than PBR's "the pokemon does its generic special attack animation, but theres a fucking floating dog tail wagging in front of them" tail whip and so on. So clearly your beloved PBR couldn't be assed to do proper animations even when it only had measly 450 pokemons and significantly less attacks to care for.

Also they clearly HAVE optimized for that enviroment, by making animations that work for any type of attack from that camera angle. Allowing them to keep the desire graphical fidelity even during combat. This is a concious choice regardless of your autistic youtube literally who's grievances.

By the way, that nigger will still buy the game since he'll have to own it to keep whining about it so KEK

Dynamaxed Pokemon in non-Max Raid battles still have the real individual battle effects. The situation of "4 vs 1 giant Pokemon, where one of the 4 can also be a giant" is the situation that PBR NEVER has to deal with. Specially not with the sheer number of attacks that exist now, and specially not with the need of having the camera always focus on the entire team involved in the Max Raid, which is where alot of attack animations would get flat out retarded.

We know it's likely the camera/presentation in mind. Because the Dynamaxed Max Raid Pokemons still use the crazy MAX-Attack animations from normal Dynamax battles, which are all among the more detailed and intense effects the game has, meaning that it can't possibly be a "the game lags and tanks the framte rate" problem. But that would be too much logic for an angry twitter nigger to employ.

Nobody is talking about the processing power of the Switch and how many monsters it can render. We are talking animations. 4 Wailords in a double battle is the same presentation as everything else in PBR. All move animations work the exact same being used on the wailords in that game.

Meanwhile in a Max Raid battle a fair amount of moves would have to be completely redone to look in the particular "wide field, everyone visible" camera angles the mode uses. Lucario's Power-Up Punch? Would work fine. Extremespeed? Would look god damn stupid. Gamefreak would have roughly 600+ moves they'd have to do "version meant ONLY for Max Raid battle and nothing else" to do, and that's just kind of ridiculous to expect;

And that's not to mention the fact that it would be a fucking chore to watch everyone doing their fully detailed moves every turn since thats 5 motherfuckers attacking everytime. Elaborate animations for Max Raid mode would just be flat out boring to sit thru.

And Sword Shield does handle huge Pokemon properly in normal battles. It's only Max Raid battle that has these simplified attack animations for non-MAX attacks due to the format of it all.

sure, and why not focus on improving the ones that suck in PBR instead of making all of them suck on newer games?
also, in the video Gigantamaxed Corviknight is using a steel splash against the Drednaw, so those watered down splash animations are also on 1v1 battles

The switch clearly has the power required to not make the animation during doubles or even triples, this isn't the problem
The raid animations are fancier than a significant amount of regular attack animations
This makes no sense to replace the old ones because they're supposed to make the game lag, and then let dynamaxed mons use their mini z-moves 3 times per battle
Also fancy effects from regular attacks would literally have the same poly count but would just be bigger than normal.

They can simply just redirect the angle to the bottom/middle of the opponent model and reduce the size of the animation if the opponent is a dynamaxed pokemon

I wouldn't be surprised if some regular moves get cut due to the only Pokémon capable of learning those moves are unavailable, regardless of Metronome. No Heatmor? No other Pokémon, old or new, are able to learn Fire Lash? Say goodbye to it.

Probably because the Stadium and C/XD stuff looks incredibly dated. The new models aren't just used for the mainline games, they're used for everything.

I swear to God, Creatures Inc. is the only developer worthy of a praise. It is responsible for half of the Pokemon spin-offs. On the other hand, Game Freak makes the same RPG for 20 years (sometimes rereleasing the same game under different name) and people have the balls to call others retarded. Most of the people outside of this fandom would be speechless while looking at this. What happened to gaming, Jesus Christ.

It's just really not sustainable to have them all at a certain point. If you wanted to add 1 new animation for each Pokemon that's 900 new animations you have to do in the roughly 3 years they have to make the games on top of all of the other stuff they have to do. It becomes exponentially more work as the Pokemon numbers increase

They look like placeholder animations... There's a chance they'll replace them later on, but with GameFreak it's usually "what you see is what you get".
It's sad, really. This game could've been so much more, but putting effort into Pokémon doesn't seem to be a priority for them anymore.
Was planning on buying it at first, since I didn't buy a Pokémon Game since X, but I kinda lost interest and this video really didn't help. lol

There's 5 pokemon participating, you only control one, and one of them is going to be blasting huge lengthy attacks.
They explicitly shortened all the regular Pokemon attacks to just "play physical/special animation - hitspark based on type" so that things go faster. Raids have a max turn limit of 10 turns, so they seem to fully expect shit to go for at least that long. You already gotta wait for the other members of the party to pick their attacks, so waiting even longer for them to do drawn out attack animations would suck.

A. The whole point of doing this is to make it so you don't have to switch that shit yourself and
B. That doesn't work in a multiplayer setting like this cause they have to keep everyone to the same time table.

Not quite. Technically, so far, there has been no truly "new" animations so far.
The one instance that is being USED in a new way is the Pokemon having a "cry" animation that plays when they're encountered in the wild, when you win a gym battle, and when they Max.
This animation isn't actually new though since it was in Gen 7 as well, but there it was just used for when the Pokemon called for help in the SOS system.

There's still a possibility for there to be whole new animations in the Camp stuff though. There's apparently a pretty involved cooking part of that which could involve some new animation for each mon.

If you're going to cite a random fallacy instead of addressing the argument (which is ironically a fallacy in itself) at least pick one that can make sense. You asked why exactly that small detail matters I answered. That's a lie though. Kirby and Fire Emblem, both "handheld games for the last decade having to man up for the Switch" also look pretty rough. You're running on a loop here, I already told you opinions supported by arguments hold much more validity than those who are not. And besides many objective classifications of quality can be observed when judging a game, a flaw like the overworld pokemon unexpressively moving around like puppets instead of acting like living creatures would do is objective. How much you care about that flaw is subjective, but the flaw is still there regardless. And when you keep adding flaws to the count it's clear to see the game just isn't that good and defenders who have no care for anything being flawed are more than likely brainlessbrand loyalists.

The leap-throw hat- bounce on hat bullshit is the solution to literally every true platforming problem. None of the enemy captures get fleshed out significantly in neat ways.

It's a brain dead easy game and after 100%-ing it I felt less satisfied and more "I hope next time they actualy do something with these mechanics instead of kiddie-pool-shallow stuff". Actualy I lie, I don't think I could bring myself to 100% it because when I saw how easy the Darker Side of the Moon challenge was I lost all interest in keeping going.

Nintendo needs to stop treating the player like a toddler. Super Mario 64 and Sunshine managed to be accessible just fine for children.

An indie 3D artist can easily open up Blender an apply a Subdivision Surface modifier and export the models with the animations to Unity and the computer would not fall apart. It's okay.

Yes, that's true. However, we're not comparing the Switch to the PS4/Xbox1. We're saying the Switch is on the same level as the PS3/Xbox360 which is more than capable of having SWSH look and perform the same as Pokemon Ga-Ole as >>39712238 stated.

We know Pokemon is not on the tier of major AAA games that push their respective gaming console to the limits. Which means GF should have no issues pushing the Switch hardware as their art style and level designs don't demand such a heavy load on the Switch hardware.

We're not talking about PS3/360 games looking good. We're talking about that a Pokemon Game on the Switch should have no issues looking and playing exactly like in Pokemon Ga-Ole BECAUSE the Switch's capability is on par with the 360/PS3. The Switch is not the problem it's GF.

In recent trailers, we see that the Pokemon models are one again not scaled probably in battles (ie. Tyranitar & Duraludon), but in GF's previous game on the switch LGP/LGE the models were probably scaled in battle and in the overworld. So, the problem is GF, not the Switch.

Are you being retarded on purpose? There's a difference between ADDING new pokemon and CARRYING OVER ones that you already had. In order to add new pokemon you go through the whole creative process, of course nobody expects you to do it in mass. Carrying over something requires minimal effort and would make lots of people happy, yet they're refusing to do it

He said that they had to make cuts because console development is more intense than anything they did before, period. "High quality graphics and animations" are mentioned as examples of reasons that making a Console Switch game is significantly harder, not as a "were cutting people... so... expect all animations to be cinematic as fuck!!".

Besides, making these particular Max Raid effects -is- more effort than just using the normal animations would be. This is something done with the specific purpose of making the Max Raid fights flow better. All of the actual battle animations are still in the game and still used in non-Max Raid situations.

I don't have to explain why games made by teams much more experienced with Console development are better than games made by people that aren't.

But I'll point out that Odyssey is 900p with drops in resolution and that BOTW averages at 24fps with 900p that also drops in certain areas and needed a patch to make loading times bearable.
