No because everyone hated 76. To my knowledge there weren’t any 76 apologists. With SWSH, the fan base is completely divided. And the game isn’t bad, judging by literally every preview/first impressions from people who played the demo. It just has had controversial design choices.

From a functional standpoint, it isn't. It plays like other Pokemon games and has no game-breaking bugs. At worst it would just be a boring rehash like NSMB.

Bethesda had some signs of wear earlier with Fallout 4 though. SM are the best games in the series so far, and I'm sure the new games will raise the bar yet again.
Also gamefreak hasn't dipped into any scummy business practices like the creation club and lootboxes.
