>>39712269It's not amazing by any means, but it isn't a trainwreck. There's obvious progression with each character rather than just Ash and Pikachu, the main rivals (Kaki and Gladion) are actually competent fighters outside of their quirks, and the villains have been good. Guzma is especially good because he's playing by the rules and kicking people's asses with zero remorse as a result. Also, the filler episodes have had some fun themes. Ash being a monkey to help resolve a conflict between two tribes, the Kyogre fishing episode, most of the ultra beast episodes, and so on were all interesting.
Overall, it feels like a bunch of kids exploring and going on an adventure again. Like it should be. It's not perfect, but it's better than what we've had for a while.
