All Pokemon games get backlash. I remember the early days of BW, and everyone shat on them, but now you guys jerk those games off like nobody's business. Give it time, and you'll all love Galar.

Yep. If anything it’s a bunch of 19 year olds acting like what they saw online for games they were excited about when they were playing XY for the first time in middle school. This board is designed to hate everything about any new product from the Pokémon company and even old games couldn’t live up to the standards these new vocal fans have.

I loved BW and XY both before release and when actually playing. As for SM, I was genuinely hyped for them, they really did look like they were going to be amazing games, but alas. Swoshie doesn't have even that, not even the illusion that it might be good, it's shaping up to be such a disaster that it can't hide it.

Not all. I believe that the traditional new gen backlash started with Ruby and Sapphire.

I hated gen 5 for years and still do to this day, but I'm not knocking it entirely for what it did right with B2/W2.
But there were redeaming qualities of B/W/B2/W2 that made me enjoy it.
I do not see the same happening with Sw/Sh with all the goddamn downsides to it and the absolute absurdity of the Dyna/Giganta mechanic.

This. Gen 2 had immense hype before release since it fixed and added to the previous game instead of removing stuff out.

Gen 3 got backlash for making many mons inaccessible until FRLG, removing the Day/Night cycle, removing days of the week, removing animations from Crystal, being unable to trade with Gen 2 and 3, etc.
