The entire thing was taken care of solely by Huut Cutuur and Nebiros, Nebiros taking care of Phoebe and Huut Cutuur taking out the other three E4 members with ease
Unfortunately we did lose Nebiros to Wallace, his Whiscash managed to get up an Amnesia on the first turn, and survived the second turn and retaliated against Huut with an Earthquake, Nebiros switching in to land a decisive crit Shadow Ball on it and also taking out Tentacruel and half of Milotic's HP before falling to a Surf, but it was enough to let Huut revenge kill with a Thunderbolt

Now, that wraps up Gen 3, super excited to get started with Gen 4 finally!

So after days of training, losing the mon I was training and starting over again, I beat Blaine without much trouble (Specs Earth Power Yass swept everything in one hit)

Blue was a bit harder, especially his fucking Machamp, but in the end I succeeded without losses. Yass and Sayoko came pretty close to dying though.

So here I'm grinding against random trainers, when this fuck with like 5 Voltorbs looks my way and challenges me to a fight. Pretty easy fight right? I thought so too, then suddenly Tooter dies outta nowhere. Fucking Sonicboom.

I was grinding against wild pokemon, and Venus was kicking ass, suddenly this fucking Drowzee cosplaying as Sonic outsped me and one shot Venus with Confusion.

I also caught a Drowzee, whom then I traded for a Machop. I thought Muscle would be useful against Whitney, but she was kinda useless, nearly getting one shot by a Stomp that made her flinch. Ponek had to step up once again to give me the W. Ponek has been the MVP for three gyms in a row.

I reached Ecruteak but started wandering to the nearby routes. I had forgotten how far you can venture before taking on the gym. Caught lots of wild Pokemon and facing pretty strong trainers.

Lost Caluria to a Pursuit, while some stupid strong level 20 Gyarados fucked Bill over. I also almost lost Ponek to a wild Geodude who had Magnitude 10.

Santana and Sneak are fighting for the MVP spot right now. Both excelled against Morty and his gym.

I should have seen this coming, FARRAH was always getting poisoned by Smogs huffing gas and selfdestructing. On the other hand, lucked out that a critical Water Pulse cut through max-SpDef'd Snorlax to put him exactly on the spot to be caught with less-than-double digit number of great balls. Naive's a weird nature for a Snorlax, but I have a good feeling about him.

I hate poison so much. I kept fighting Gulpins on a route that would always open with fucking Poison Gas which led to a lot, A LOT of trips back to the pokecenter.

Also really liking the team so far, almost considered putting the female Burmy on there alongside Mothim as a Sandy Cloak, but the lack of Bug Bite in DP is kinda lame, so I think I'll save that for Platinum

Also, for the Sinnoh games, I've thought of dividing Mt Coronet into four areas because of how dang massive it is
1F, which encompasses the entrances from Route 211, 207 and 216
Upper Floors, all the inside areas above 1F
Outside, the snowy areas outside on the top
Basement, the basement floor
Personally I think that sounds reasonable instead of blowing around 10 maps of encounters on one Pokemon in the first or so caves, instead dividing the areas into the groups with the most homogenous encounters, but I wouldn't mind some input on this

The most reasonable I've heard is setting a level cap that can't exceed the next gym leaders ace and allowing the use of the Exp Share, being able to put it on and off at will
My own personal experience of nuzlocking X/Y without the Exp Share at all is that you fall behind VERY easily, especially if you lose mons and/or don't use Amie

That wasn't an anon, that was me! I also started with the OG cartoons and watched the Bay Films, though the first one is the only one I really enjoyed... I had more opinions on them, but it went WAY over the post limit. I DO highly recommend the IDW comics, particularly More Than Meets the Eye. It's about a few big name TFs and LOTS of no-name TFs on a space ship trying to find remnants of their lost culture throughout the galaxy - it's super funny, and the author, James Roberts, is REALLY clever at planting seeds that pay off in surprising ways (he also wrote Chaos Theory, which is Optimus Prime interrogating a captive Megatron and them discussing their history and the war in general, it's two issues and a GREAT short test to see if you'd like the stuff).

Long story short, I keep losing pokemon to random wild encounters. What hurt the most was losing my Beaver to that Aipom evolution. It used something called double hit and knocked him out in 1 hit.

Just realized I forgot to put in that I have a Chansey in the box. Fuck it.

Anyway, I am actually really liking this generation. So many pokemon, all the generations blending organically. Love the gym puzzles as well as how there are so many different environments. Not a fan of all the HMs but that is problem in several generations.

The plan right now is that I can hopefully find an ice type as I head through this hail toward the 3rd lake in the north. The only thing I know about the Elite 4 of this gen is that the champ has a Garchomp which sweeps teams so I figure that I am going to need a heavy ice hitter at some point. So back to the grind.

Johto E4 defeated! God trying to use Xatu was an awful idea. It sucks so much in Gen 2. It only has Future Sight until level 65. Koga literally had 4 poison types and Maine didn't do jack shit to any of them. I'll just save it for maybe RSE, or if not, HGSS. I can't believe this just happened. I needed a Covenant Orb so I was running around in Union Cave looking for a Gible to trade a guy in Azalea and the first one I encountered was Shiny. It kept using Take Down and wouldn't stay in the ball but I eventually caught it by the skin of my teeth.

Murderpuss ended up Night Slashing his way through the 5th Gym, I'm glad I'm getting to use a Skuntank since one rarely gets the opportunity to do so, hope I'll be able to pick up a Glameow in Pearl since Purugly is one of my favorites that constantly gets shafted by Game Freak

Still wondering who I should add as a 6th member when time comes for that, kinda finding it hard to let go of Borgar for now since there's always some tree or a rock somewhere. Might just end up going through the game with a team of 5 and then powergrind a 6th before the league, but we'll see

My turboautism doesn't enjoy my Pokemon having "useless" EVs, I always hoard Kelpsy and Hondew Berries when I can so I can get rid of Attack/Special Attack EVs on mons that aren't using those stats so that they instead can get EVs in...literally any other stat
I've lost mons because I've lacked just a little bit of speed, a little bit of offense or a little bit of defense, and subsequently been saved because I had just a little extra. One or two points can go a long way

Kinda blown away by how absolutely cucked DP Barry is compared to Platinum Barry, that fight on the bridge in Canalave is usually a NIGHTMARE, but here he still had Staravia, Buizel, Ponyta and Grotle, wheras in Pt they're all evolved. Be honest, do I lack autism? Because I thought I was pretty fucking autistic but this shit is testing me and I'm not eve 1/4 of the way through. I've beat red blue and yellow and now I'm about halfway through Silver and I actually want to kill myself. I've had this Silver run on hold for like 4 months btw. I made a bit of progress 4 days ago and stopped playing again. I'm not even going to try to entertain the idea that I like these early games because I don't and I'll explain why.
There's 0 challenge, let's just get that out of the way right now, and before you think this is one of those cop out answers, I have lost like what? 3 Pokemon in all in the 4 games I've played. Just about all of them were due to pure laziness too.
So there' no real urgency or tension in the runs. I'm essentially going into these almost blind too because despite playing them in the past I can't remember shit all about them.
Second is the music. Fucking hell I hate the music, I haven't had the music play in any of these games. It's grating. It's actually painful to listen to.
Third is the amount of moves your Pokemon have available to them. It's limited as fuck, it means I have nothing to look forward to when I level my Pokemon. This example is going to be completely wrong but I'm just using it as a basis because I can't be arsed looking up the actual movepools, but let's pretend I have a pidgey or something. I won't get a flying attack until like level 40+ and the flying attack will be something shit like wing attack. Moves up until then will be garbage too, there's just nothing at all to look forward to besides your pokemons evolution levels.

I didn't intend to bring the threads mood down about nuzlocking or anything, I'll enjoy myself in the later games but these first games are a fucking chore. They really are, powering through them takes significant willpower, they're just so goddamn boring.

I can speak for anyone else, but for me what has helped me push all the way to Diamond is the fact that I've been posting my progress in these threads, I don't know why specifically, but it does help motivate me to keep going

Started a custom Heart Gold Nuzlocke, and by custom I mean that I swapped Cyndaquil from the lab to a Vulpix. Silver still has Totodile and everything else remains the same.

Cinder, Pebble and Kamina excelled in this arc, taking down the many Bellsprout and bird Pokemon of Olivine City with ease. All three also seem to have advantage over the upcoming gym, so I expect the rest to be on the background for a while, still, the team is shaping up greatly. I'm just a little sad that I didn't get a Mareep.

As we headed to Union Cave, the many Ground and Rock type Pokemon gave my team a bit of trouble, but Ditzy and especially Bella put in work and got us through unscathed. We did get lost halfway through, but a nice Sandshrew helped us find the way, and decided that he had enough of the cave life and decided to join the team in order to discover and taste all the snacks in the world.

We then encountered the wretched Team Rocket, who was no match for our team, and saved the poor Slowpoke whose tails were being cut off to sell as snacks. Daisy, impressed by our deeds decided to join the team, hoping to get stronger herself.

We then took on Bugsy, the Bug gym leader, where Cinder wrecked havoc with her Fire attacks. Bugsy's Scyther almost defeated her with a Quick Attack, but Pebble saved the day with some Rock Throws.

Feeling victorious with our new badge, we decided to head to Ilex Forest, but our rival Silver stopped us for a fight.

Cruella showed that age isn't everything, and defeated Silver's much younger Gastly after a couple of Licks. Bella then whipped Silver's Croconaw with her vines, making quick work of him. Kamina then put in the finishing touches by tackling Silver's Zubat till it fainted.

As we ventured inside Ilex Forest, there laid a very large tree which obstructed our path. Despite our best efforts, we found ourselves unable to take it down. Thankfully a friendly Oddish decided to help us out, clearing the path for us, as well as joining the team after seeing Bella, hoping she could one day be as strong and beautiful as her.

There they met a strange man who offered to teach them the secret techniques of Headbutting. While practicing this new technique, they happened to butt into a tree in which an Aipom laid asleep. It was a bit upset that we awoke her, but ultimately joined the group, hoping to pull many pranks on the more uptight members of the team.

As we travelled to the next gym, we managed to befriend a Nidoran and a Rattata, as well as seeing the egg finally hatch into a perky Togepi.

Once in Goldenrod, we challenged Whitney and her Normal Pokemon, and while they were strong, Kamina's Reflect powered them down, making it able to take even the strongest of Stomps from Whitney's Milktank. Finally having encountered a worthy opponent in Whitney's team, Kamina was forced to evolve during the battle, assuring its spot as the de facto leader of the team.

Trying this again, I swear I'll actually try to finish this time. My encounters were somehow even worse than my previous runs, Normal and Bug-types fucking everywhere. I never thought I'd ever consider using a Beautifly in a Nuzlocke, but I didn't exactly have a lot of options and I've always liked the design so I said fuck it. And I regret nothing. Turns out Madam Butterfly hits like a truck, early game base 100 SpA is no joke.

Unfortunately I literally had nothing for Roxanne other than Bayleef (and I guess Stufful, although a Fighting STAB would've been nice). I also went full retard at least five times over, forgetting to buy Paralyze Heals, forgetting Cheri Berries even existed, specifically buying an X Defend and forgetting to use it, forgetting to set up Reflect again when it wore off, and forgetting Stufful resisted Rock and had priority Attack drops.

All those tools I had at my disposal, and instead I just sat there like an idiot chipping away at a Harden-boosted Nosepass with a paralyzed Bayleef's Razor Leaf hoping for a crit in between healing off the more or less 50% Rock Tomb was doing. One crit or high roll below 50% and I would've wiped, but I got more lucky than I deserved to and finally took the fucker down. Luckily I know from experience that Brawly is a joke and I've got two Flying-types, so the next Gym should be a cakewalk. Famous last words...

I had my first casualty while attempting to train up my HM slave a bit so I could damage Mudkip without killing it. Got the fucking 1% Zorua on the first encounter and it Pursuited poor Timone into oblivion. I skipped ahead to Slateport for a bit of grinding and a new encounter, which replaced Let's Go Pee (admittedly Pikachu was better at this point, but Timid Ampharos was too good to pass up and I didn't feel like continuing to train a shitmon I was going to dump later).

Turns out Brawly was tougher than I remembered. Ciocio-san narrowly avoided death at the hands of Makuhita's Reversal thanks to Rivaly dicking me over and robbing me of the OHKO on Air Cutter. But luck was on our side today. Also, I can't fucking believe Beautifly is the MVP of this run. What parallel universe did I wake up in this morning? Too bad it's useless for the next two Gyms, but that's why I caught Mudkip.

After defeating Whitney we decided to travel North where we stumbled upon the Bug Catching Contest. Ditzy volunteered to participate, where she met Artie, whom she became good friends with. We didn't win the contest, but we won a new friend.

Afterward we decided to participate in the Pokeathlon, where Kamina led Buffer and Cruella to many victories in the Jump category, earning the team a Fire Stone.

The team then proceeded to train against many wild and trained Pokemon. It was all going smoothly, until a particularly strong Marill nearly crushed Ditzy with his Rollout. Ditzy, distracted as always casting spells, did not see Marill coming, and Mr. Pointdexter jumped to save her, being crushed in the process.

Bella, outraged by his death, evolved and defeated the opposing Marill. She had exacted revenge and was now much stronger, but much of her former beauty was now gone. The loss of her charm and Mr. Pointdexter took a heavy toll on her, spiraling into depression.

Ditzy, blaming herself for Pointdexter's death, went off alone to train in the woods, and eventually came back as a Quagsire, ready to honor her fallen teammate.

Along the way to Ecruteak City the team encountered Larry, who vowed to help against Morty due to his hatred of ghosts. They also met Misma, who chose to join the team as well.

In Ecruteak they stumbled upon three legendary Pokemon, but a foul stench made them flee. The team, upset at the turn of events, discovered that the origin of the smell was Smoky, who bowed to help the team as long as they forgave him.

Morty's ghosts were no trouble for the team, with Larry and Cinder, now evolved thanks to the stone, easily defeating them all.

R.I.P. Mr. Pointdexter.

I was planning on letting Murderpuss take care of Candice, but after Poison Jabbing Snover her Medicham landed a hot nasty crit Ice Punch our way which prompted me to switch to Tenko and pray it didn't crush me with a Fighting move on the switch. After successfully Surfing Medicham we had an easy breezy time with her last two Pokemon, netting us the win

Now to embark on what is possibly one of the longest stretches between two badges, so I guess I'll see you guys next week :^)

Alright I think I got my hopefully final team locked in. Loved that whole side quest with fighting Team Galactic except for the obscene amount of HMs that were needed. But I am fan of whenever there is a fight with a legendary pokemon as part of the main qust. Having said that, I did not expect to actually fight Dialga myself. The boss's Weavile had all my pokemon in the red. So I thought I was totally fucked until I remembered that I did not have a catch in the area. So I chucked the master ball lol. Will not be using him though.

Need to also figure out a proper 4th move for Zoa and Penelope besides the HM shit. Will see if I find any particular TMs that grant some good coverage. In the meantime, I need ot grind my pokemon in the 30s up.

After defeating Morty we went West, where two more friends (Billy and Lalabey) joined the team.

After reaching Olivine City we climbed a tall lighthouse in search of the gym leader, which led us in a quest all over the sea to Cianwood City.

Along the way Cruella fell victim to a raging Gyarados, forcing Pebble to evolve in order to take it down. She was not able to do it on her own however, but with the help of a friendly Tentacruel and Chinchou the beast was taken down.

Upon arriving to Cianwood we stumbled upon a police scene. Apparently a pokemon robbery had just taken place, the culprit described seemed to fit Silver's look, but we're not entirely sure just yet. Afraid for his remaining Pokemon's sake, the young victim entrusted ur with his Shuckle, hoping we could keep him safe.

We eventually took on Chuck and his fighting Pokemon. Despite him only having two Pokemon, this battle was one of the hardest. Of the six members of the team present, four had weaknesses to his team, leaving Lampy and Bella to face them. Two on two. Unfortunately for Bella, type advantages aren't everything, and she succumbed to a single Body Slam.

R.I.P. Cruella and Bella.

Back after a hiatus. Got really tired of how slow things were going once I made it to Kanto. Turns out that I hadn't saved last time I was playing so I was stuck doing some back-tracking a bit. But I finally got to the very end and challenged Red. Heart Gold is done. Might move onto Soul Silver, but I'm not sure. Wattson's Gym was a bloodbath. A random fucking Aroma Lady pulled out a Tinted Lens/Quiver Dance/Bug Buzz Butterfree in a FUCKING ELECTRIC GYM. Sadly there was only room for one OP butterfly shitmon in this game, and it wasn't Ciocio-san. RIP in pepperoni Madam Butterfly, you were too good for this world. The thing that really pisses me off is I literally replaced Morning Sun with Whirlwind one battle earlier for exactly this fucking reason, and if I'd had Ciocio-san out first instead of Starwipe and that fucking Butterfree didn't have Tinted Lens, I could have phazed it out and not lost anyone.

The main event was no less exciting or infuriating. I swear to God Wattson hacked Serene Grace onto his Manectric because it literally got the Defense drop on Crunch every single fucking time, and once again we somehow lost a teammate to a resisted move. Honestly it's a miracle it only went for Thunder once that whole battle, because God knows it would've hit every time. If it weren't for Mud Shot's Speed drops we would've been done for, but Pandmonium managed to come in on a Crunch and take it down.

I should probably talk about how I handled each of the important battles; in my last post, I was at Cinnabar. I begin there:

Blastoise: Claudius was sent out, but was still in the yellow. It Thundered for a while and Blue spammed some FullRestore, but in the end Claudius was killed by a Hydro Pump.

I tried to wake up Brobdingag but I failed. It was just Laviosier and the Blastoise.

Also, did you know that level has no impact on catch rate? Your chances of catching a level 100 Pokemon is the same as your chances of catching a level 1 Pokemon of the same species.

It's a good thing I kept grinding on Platinum's level curve the whole game because holy shit, that final Team Galactic segment at Mt. Coronet was out for blood, even the wild pokemon got crits left and right on me. Cyrus's Gyarados put a massive dent on my team, I got super lucky to get my Garchomp switch in on a Giga Impact miss and take him out before it killed anything.
Then Palkia, ooh boy Palkia, I may as well have picked Piplup specifically for this fight, he got 5 attacks on Empoleon, 3 of them crits, then as soon as I get it to red, it gets the boosting effect from ancient power. Thankfully, a single ultra Ball was enough

I went around all the routes and places I hadn't caught a Pokemon in yet, including the safari zone, headbutt trees in the cities, and rivers/ponds where I hadn't fished yet.

I'm only missing like 2 locations, and a possible Dratini in dragon's den, but I think this should be enough. Now to figure out who'll join the team.

I think if I whore myself out in the Pokeathlon for a Fire Stone, Arcanine might be good, just need a 6th member.

That's why I said "blue", because some aren't literally blue, but are still the "feminine" option (usually symbolized with rounder edges, the color blue, water, thought/defense) as opposed to the "masuline" options (jagged edges, the color red, fire, action/offense)

Laptop crashed while I was saving the pic of this last update. All I typed about the fight and the nuzlocke generator was wiped so here's just a final pic of what happened without much fluff since I can't be bothered to type it out again since I can't remember it all.

Elite Four was easy, Lance kicked my ass. Mimi had to face off against a 1/2 hp Dragonite, another full hp Dragonite, and a full hp Charizard all by herself. Big badass.

Nah. I find Kanto in the Johto games way too tedious, the wild Pokemon have stupid low levels, the gym leaders are super easy, and I have explored Kanto WAY too many times.

I'd rather do a Kanto nuzlocke, maybe Fire Red, or a romhack of it like Fire Red Omega.

Yeah, I do checkpoints for encounters, important battles, and important events, Right now I'm in Dewford, so I catch a mon in granite cave in one game, pause, and then do the same for the rest of the games. Then I mark a checkpoint once I give Steven his letter, and another when I get the exp share.

Cupid took care of Brawly in Ruby, and the new member, All That Glitters, DESTROYED Brawly in Sapphire. Emerald is another story..Back in Rustboro, I fought may and she killed Zanzibar, my starter. Holy fucking shit this was awful, everything was going well up to magneton. I thought Jujube could take it down in a vital throw, not realizing it gets 1 shot by shock wave. I then though that steel didn't resist dark and got crit for my stupidity, losing fig. After that, I went for Cranberry to tank, which worked until I became confused, hit myself and died to a crit shock wave. Had to use Kiwi, who had screech, so I screeched twice and spammed quick attacks until I got confused and had to sacrifice Coconut to cure. We won, but at what great cost.

It depends on how well your team matches up to his. When I ran mono-Flying I went to 75, but I think 70 or even 65 is manageable if you have counters for his team. Also if you're willing to lose people you won't have to go as high.

Pro tip: if any of your team members can hard-counter the gym rematches, then mess with your game clock and rematch them over and over. In said flying run, I did this against Erika. Also consider messing with the game clock to get a Chansey swarm and steal a lucky egg.

Took Horsea, named him SuperSoaka. Got the dex, had to kill the Pichu on 103, since I couldn't catch it at full health. Caught Miror B. on 102, then ran into a trainer with 2 Dratinis. Wally caught a Cubone, lucky asshole. Just entered Petalburg Forest and caught Otis, who will probably end up being the early star of the team.

I also randomized Held Items, and overworld Items, SuperSoaka had the Shock Wave TM, and have found a Magnet and some extra healing items.

Zuk took care of Aaron, only needing Tenko's help with Drapion (who could do almost nothing to him)
Bertha was solo'd easily by Tenko
Flint was dealt with by Tenko as well, had a scare when setting up an X Speed on his Rapidash as its non-crit Flare Blitz did almost 50% of our HP, but the rest of the battle went smoothly
Zuk took care of Lucian, his first three were easily outsped and Night Slashed, Alakazam outsped us, but stupidly decided to use Energy Ball (I noticed a lot of enemies this game were pretty stupid, am I the only one?) so they were downed as well. Bronzong could've been a problem if it decided to use Gyro Ball, but it only got to use a single Calm Mind as Zuk killed it in two crit Night Slashes
Cynthia was quite a doozy
Decided to try and set up with Tenko on her Spiritomb, which would've been a good idea if it didn't immediately get a boost from Silver Wind and proc a Sp Def drop with Psychic, nevertheless we were able to set up +2 Speed and +2 Sp Atk
...Which was all we needed to sweep the rest of her team

...well, I'm glad to have one Cynthia fight over with at least, only two more to go!

League wasn't to bad up until Lucian. I hate how Alakazam always ends up being pretty much impossible to kill for me, that nigger is always the fastest thing in existence and I never get anything with Sucker Punch, and this time he even got perfect accuracy with Focus Blast, hitting 5/5 and killing both Raichu and Empoleon
Cynthia was pretty smooth sailing after that, Lucario got two crit Shadow Balls on Spiritomb and one Sp Def drop on Roserade so those two went down without issue, Milotic took out her Lucario and Gastrodon, and I was hoping not having to take her Garchomp with my own, but Milotic was already pretty beaten so I risked the switch in, Dragon Rush missed once but hits on my attacking turn and it somehow doesn't kill me (EV training goes a long way, I guess). Bibarel of all things was my win condition against Milotic thanks to her attacking moves doing jack to me, and Super Fang getting her just shy of full restore range without procing Mirror Coat.

If I ever do Diamond, I'm getting Azelf or Uxie just for Lucian's Alakazam, seriously fuck this guy.

I set up a bunch of bulk ups and healed every couple of turns to make sure machoke didn't go down. Got to the point I could one shot all of the slaking.

Got a really good catch with Geodude in Mt. Moon, which I traversed pretty easily thanks to Multina's Confusion taking down Zubats in one shot. Misty was pretty easy with Zappy's Thunder Wave + Thundershock. I might use Dig TM to give Nidoking some STAB, we'll see. This might be the easiest run of the three I think, really solid team overall, no real shitmons.

Got the useless Zubat instead of Paras which was pretty annoying, but to make up for it the RNG Gods let me catch Abra, who swept Misty easily once it evolved. Spoone might easily become my ace in this run.

I had the worst luck in this one during this update. Mt. Moon was actually pretty tough since I had nothing to deal with the Hikers and their Rock types, and all my Pokemon feel extremely underwhelming. I caught an Ekans just outside of Mt. Moon, but it died while grinding to a crit from a Rattata. I then lost Princess and Tooty to Misty's Starmie, who was extremely annoying. I plan on evolving Cleffairy once it learns Metronome, but I'm not sure how effective that really is.

Was originally not planning to add a Staravia to my team, not really a fan of using the family, but there was pretty much no other option for a Fly user barring stuff like Chatot, so I don't have much choice unless I wanna use a Fly HM slave (I do not)

Don't really see the point in using a mon that I know I won't be using later, kinda feels like a waste of exp to me, besides I'd rather save it for Platinum/White2/USUM since it has access to better coverage options outside of just Normal/Fight (which are still ok, but could be better)
