I definitely agree. They will not give evolutions to Pokémon that previously could not evolve all because of the Eviolite. How will GF explain the Eviolite suddenly working on Farfetch'd after 4 gens? It's stupid, the fans don't care, but that's their reason. Only expect non-regional cross-gen evos for Pokémon that can already evolve.

Interesting this is that Poipole is unaffected by the Eviolite, while male Salandit ad Combee are not.

If you ask me they should just make a Secret Eviolite or something like that, that will work on Pokémon that previously couldn't evolve. Those evolutions could be new occurrences lore-wise. Like some meteorite, or power surge, etc.

We don't know if Farfetch'd has a galarian form though. In Sun and Moon we had Raichu and Exeguctor, who evolved out of normal Kanto pokemon.

A Farfetch evo wouldn't necesarely come out of a galar form.

Eviolite was a mistake. Just retcon it and say it works differently in “x region.” But no, Gamefreak’s raging continuity boner prevents Pokémon who need evolutions from getting them, despite them breaking some continuity before.

Megas and Gigas are not permanent and regional variants are basically different Pokémon. Stat tweaks seem to be just random 10 points most of the time, so we can't rely on that. The only Pokémon with tweaked stats that got legit better is Mantine (roost helped too).

Good. Farfetch'd is fine as is. Weak stats and crit fishing fits for a literal lucky duck, as well as luck at the expense of the duck as well.
If Farfetch'd is going to get something like Obstagoon added to it, give Farfetch'd a different form for it to evolve from to not scrap what flavor the original already has.

What does that have to do with anything? The Linoone you caught in Gen 3-7 still won't be able to evolve into Obstagoon.

Well, they have completely changed what items do before (Soul Dew etc) so I think if they REALLY wanted to, they could retcon Eviolite all they want. Don't forget that Piloswine and Lickitung could learn AncientPower and Rollout before Gen 4.

They must have some other internal reasoning for not giving evos to old Pokemon, maybe because of their bad reception in Gen 4? Maybe just to keep people's memories of those Pokemon the same? Idk

Alolan forms of Pokemon in Swsh's regional dex will be available thru in-game trades/Home. It has nothing to do with 'can't be bothered'.

Beside >>39718950 is the one asking how you'd get Galar forms in future games. I gave ways to make it possible, if GF wants.

They already said that the way their treating the national dex in SS is the way they're doing it for every future games. Point is, even if they do bring Alolan forms of the SS regional dex pokemon into the game, in future games, thats not ALL of the alolan forms, and the smae will happen for gen 9. Whose to say Galarian Linoone will be available to be traded into gen 9, since they're not bothering to port all the pokemon to the game anyways.
