It's a solid choice in playstyles but not in pokemons.
Too many Kantos, but most of it is because of Trainer so it's kinda fine.
Trainer's selection is a good one in both pokemon choice and playstyles, but really better on the second one than the first.
Pikachu is the mascot.
Jigglypuff is one of the OG's so it's here to stay forever, with how much the community likes it and with Sakurai always bending for the traditions.
Pichu is redudant, a pure meme pick, we only have it again because of "Everyone is Here".
Mewtwo is perfect, considering how it's an actual unique pick as the only "post-game" character in Smash. I like that, most of the mons in Smash are given a spotlight both in-game (pokemon games) and outside (being gifted around like water). Even with the Mewtwo movie, if you had one, you worked for it.
Lucario is only here because it was GF's golden goose in the DS era with how popular it was.
Greninja is good, tough I don't like gratuitous starter mons as reps. It stands from the roster in Smash, with the only similar arch-type being Sheik.
Incineroar is fine. I don't like him but its a fun character to play.
There are no bad pokemon characters, just redudants at worst, but the selection has too many shillmons (for a lack of a better word outside buzzwords) for my taste.
I don't find it as a good representation of the Pokemon franchise, makes it look like most of the mons are guys in fursuits. Skilled guys in fursuits, but still fursuits.
