Mirror Armor is so people can't spam Intimidate and Icy Wind in doubles. That's as far as game Freak's attempt at "balancing" the game went.
Based on what we've seen of its stats, it's probably not even going to be viable in doubles anyways.

Magic Bounce only affects moves.

Mirror Armor reflects abilities too. Intimidate gets reflected back.

You're looking at it through dub lens.
The original name of the ability is Magic Mirror.
If Mirror Armor is a viable ability for this Pokemon, then Magic Mirror would work easily as well. But Magic Mirror doesn't work on abilities, just moves. That's where Mirror Armor comes in, working for both but only for stat-lowering ones.

Mirror Armor at least blocks stat drops, where Magic Bounce doesn't? It's more of a buffed clear body than a worse Magic Bounce

That's normally the most useful to block intimidate honestly, but from what we know about its stats it really doesn't have impressive attacking stats. I'm not sure what purpose the ability has on what's probably best suited to be a physical wall.

So the trailer had two lvl 50 corviknights with an HP stat of 166 and 171. Same trailer had a Rhypherior with an HP of 175 and his stat is 115. So it looks like our math is pretty close, right?
