Gen 2

You still see Salamence, Metagross, Milotic, and even Swampert to this day. Hell, Groudon and Kyogre have been kings of Uber since their debut, and Blaziken has been there since gen 5.

Gen Two has Tyranitar, Skarmory, Heracross, and... not much else. The box legends are good ubers, but not the meta juggernauts that the gen 3 ones are.

Of course this is mostly personal opinion.

All of those are UU and RU. Blaziken needed a hidden ability to become good, it was ass before. TTar is better than any of those disregarding legendaries.

Let's be honest here, Johto fanboys are genwunner that want to be different and feel shame about their shit taste, what Johto had? Garbage starters and maybe 10 good Pokémon.

Meanwhile Gen 3 was the true peak

Still a common sight in OU tho.

The thing is, Tyranitar is amazing, but Gen 3 was overall more consistent being good competitively then gen 2 was.

Gen 2 has Skarmory and Tyranitar in OU every gen. Gen 3 only has Jirachi as an OU every gen.

Wobuffet got a hidden ability so you can use it without Shadow Tag anymore but it's garbage without it so the only place you can really use it is Ubers.

Gen3:
Blaziken Breloom Claydol Crawdaunt Deoxys Dusclops Jirachi Latios Latias Metagross Milotic Pelipper Salamence Swampert
Have all been pretty influential at one point or another.
Gen 3's heights are bigger than gen2's heights but gen2's heights are more consistent than gen3's.
