>>39744319Gen 5 has less to do than even Emerald. It was the beginning of the end. Every game prior to Gen 5, even when it removed something, added more than enough to make up for it. Gen 5 did not.
Or are you going to try to tell me the Tower clone in the Subway and the PWT somehow replaces the entirety of the 10 total Frontier events that existed at that point? Or that Musicals replaced Contests even though you basically sat there for 10 minutes with almost no actual gameplay interaction unlike Contests?
All Gen 5 had going for it was...
>the storyWhich was starting to get highly excessive considering Pokémon was never about story to begin with and it's why Gen 1 and 2 were so good - the freedom to explore. It also required B2/W2's story to make it feel complete. A sequel is fine but each one should feel complete in and of itself.
>extra routes in postWhich until B2/W2 there was nothing terribly exciting to cause you to be in any of them in B/W except BC/WF.
So... You could explore which was great, but there was almost nothing to find for the map size. It's like they wanted to mimic Gen 1 (which Masuda openly stated so they did in fact attempt to do that) but didn't understand what made it good.
Imagine the Pokémon Mansion but the diaries are just cryptic nonsense. That's what the Abyssal Ruins are. And then they just made it complete garbage because B2/W2 just made it a straight up puzzle tutorial for the puzzle (which is just stupid - if you think people are too stupid to figure it out by trial and error, giving them cryptic scrambled clues isn't going to help and is completely baffling when you even refused to release an event item previously because "mountain too hard for muh children").
I could go on for a while but I'll stop there as I'm starting to run out of room here. The fact of the matter is that Gen 5 had less than Gen 4 to do and was dumbed down where it did have something similar to the past ones.
