Even if you got the boost every time, you would need to run 37,740 steps and level up once. This is your best case scenario for such a method.
My recommendation would be to dig up shit from the underground, sell it and spend your money on a lot of x items (+1 boost per use). Then go into a battle with a low level kricketot and spam x items until you're fully boosted, switch out, switch back in until the kricketot has no PP. Repeat this for boost up to 218, then level up for the final +2. It's not really fast, but it's your best shot for a low level evolution.
