I'd like to point out if main series remained 2D instead of cock blocking other 3D RPGs in the series they could've had a game with all Pokémon AND a game to consistently have higher res graphics/proper animations with limited rosters that no one would care about because it wouldn't be screwing the main series.
Hell, they could've easily kept it as a live service type thing that released/updated after the main series. Used this 3D sim for competitions from now on and also updated it with game priced DLC with each new Gen for the new 'mons and items to keep it consistent with the current entry barrier to competitive.
Game Freak has no one to blame but themselves for the scorn they are receiving. Every time you turn over a rock Masuda is right there with his dick in his hand.
