Considering that they must have known that the National Dex controversy would cause a major stir, I'm surprised they aren't doubling down on the news to try and sweep it under the rug and distract from it to try and create more hype. After all, the dislikes lessen more and more with each new trailer. Why not blow their load on more Pokemon/story details/features if they have them?

Spreading out trailers is a better method since it wouldn't burn people out too much, too quickly. Most fans are casual players and aren't constantly needing new information.

The reason people are so hungry for news is that the news they have shown isn't exciting and hype inducing. The new Pokemon are underwhelming and the games look mediocre and more of sun and moon rather than some big new thing.
