>>39757651Yes it was, it was literally one of the top mons because of the speed/crit stat. Persian is one of the fastest Gen 1 Pokemon, on top of having a STAB, always critting Slash, yeah he's up there. Only 6 Pokemon outspeed Persian in Gen 1.
The best Pokemon you're gonna have in Gen 1 are Mewtwo, Jolteon, Chansey, Tauros, Starmie, Rhydon, Dragonite, Snorlax, Slowbro, Alakazam, Exeggcutor, and Persian. Now you could argue that Persian is Top 12 rather than Top 6, but at this point it's just arguing. Persian always had a crit ratio which made him extremely viable, especially when compared to Snorlax (while high def/hp) with Body Slam/Hyper Beam STAB, he was rather slow. You can argue the same for Tauros, which as we know with Persian, he can also learn Body Slam/Hyper Beam.
Persian was a better choice due to speed=crit rate and learning the same moves. The only difference is he lacks a little more utility. I suppose you can throw in Gengar, Aerodactyl, and Scyther into the top Pokemon as well, but ultimately Persian was definitely a very strong Gen 1 Pokemon and is easily up there. At the very least you can't argue that he wasn't Top 10.
