Once, for example, I lost battle 50 to Blue when I had my Gastrodon protect against an expected Grass Knot from Alakazam. His Zam was on low health, but I needed to take out his other partner who was a bigger threat. Then one of my two mons could easy finish Alakazam. Instead of going for Gastrodon with Grass Knot, both opposing mons focused down my attacker (I think Alakazam used unresisted psychic). Then they focused down my Gastro the next turn, learning to my dismay that my Gastrodon could have actually tanked a single Grass Knot. Either way, in hindsight, I should have attacked with Gastro and taken out Zam. Then Gastrodon would have easily 1v1ed the last Mon.
This behavior baffles me. I've had the computer even use moves against a resisting target before over a 4x weak target. Granted it's pretty uncommon, but it happens and when it does it can cause you to throw a match.
