This is actually one of the specific reasons I do not like other series. Collecting is a major point so if I can't do that and have them all in one game then I don't care.
It's one of the reasons World of Final Fantasy was so attractive to me. Unlike recent Digimon or Yokai Watch it was the first game in the line meaning like Gen 1 they had all of the available monsters.
A hypothetical WoFF2 without all of the monsters from the first one could fuck itself just as much as S/S.
