>>39767680they need to stop being fucking weird with the TCGO. It's clear there's some sort bizarre agreement where the company that was contracted to produce it can't use ANY Pokemon assets other than physical cards and approved of promo material.
Just look at these NPCs you play against. Single player is themed to be playing the physical card game against other nerds in card shops, none of which related to the actual Pokemon world at all. The sound and attack effects are all stock garbage, the production value overall is bottom of the barrel compared to Hearthstone or even shit like GWENT. The client itself is unbelievably slow and shitty, with no real hope of being updated. I'm fairly sure the client has been in maintenance mode for years now, the only updates done are for new cards and bug fixes essentially.
Chances are TPCI doesn't want to put any money into the online client at all so the contracted devs have no real benefit to revamping it. Hell, they removed the monetization in the game so there's literally no way for the devs to make *any* money.
What's sad is that the game plays just as fast as any other TCG so there's some appeal there and the Pokemon brand has massive reach. The only reason why the TCGO is in such a sorry state is because TPCI doesn't give a single fuck. Maybe TPCI had their own plans for their own online client with monetization so they didn't want the contracted one to flourish.
just look at the company they contracted for TCGO
https://www.direwolfdigital.com/it's some random shitty indie card game company. I guarantee you the only reason why these guys got the job is because they were either cheap or knew someone.
