I don't like Lickilicky's design. Personally, Idon't believe the more rounded, simplified shapes get the point across that it's now a fat gourmand. Rather, it looks like a baby form of Lickitung.
An evolved Lickilicky should develop more of the reptilian/chameleon traits hinted at in Lickitung.

Not entirely sure if this is relevant, but I'd stop treating each step in evolutionary lines as separate Pokemon. Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, and Venusaur are #001.

I do wish the cannons on blastoise had some representation on wartortle. Likes some spiky bumps that will from the cannons upon evolving.

Then again I guess I could say the same about charizard and its wings but for some reason the metal cannons just forming from the shell upon evolving is the point where I get confused.

I'm not a fan of this, but there's an easy enough way to do it: use numbers and/or letters to distinguish. For example, Bulbsaur could be #001.1, Ivysaur could be #001.2, and Venusaur #001.3. For shit that branches, Charizard could then be #002.3, with the Megas being #002.3a and #002.3b. The Eeveelutions could be #133.1-8. I agree that it all seems too similar, though, and I'm not personally a fan.

It just isn't necessary. Zigzagoon --> Linoone is a thematically complete line where everything bar the gameplay, from visual design to behavioural quirks, already goes through drastic changes between stages while still being believably related and complementing each other as a result. Adding another stage only takes away from what the line is and how they evolved, shitting on them to make way for a reference that'll tire out quickly and unabashed furbait.

Radical opinion here:
I don't like the lines where the evolution subverts expectations and prefer lines where the evolution is more simple.

I prefer something like Magneton being three Magnemites or Klinklang being Klang with an orbital ring as opposed to things like the line going from cat to large cat to bipedal wrestler humanoid or things like Galarian Linoone going from raccoon to streamlined raccoon to bipedal rock star humanoid raccoon wearing make up.

It really sucks because these new generations are basically all about these "surprise" evolutions and it just kills all of my interest when a Pokemon I love evolves into something completely different from what it started out as.

That's not the point of the post. The point is that Linoone is already a perfect final stage to Zigzagoon and adding another stage takes away from that. Even then, the cross theme is barely present within the design compared to its previous stages while also failing to expand on Linoone to the same extent Linoone expanded on Zigzagoon.

Not the other anon but the obstacle concept isn't what brings it down, it's just executed horribly. I laughed out loud when I first saw Obstagoon because of how ridicolous it looks as an evo for Linoone.
