>>39782328Absolutely. There are games out there that do far more for less sales and don't have the merchandising power of pokemon. These are the pokemon in pokemon. It's not an "extra" development cost, it's the very minimum we should expect.
In a hypothetical 2000 pokemon dex, at ~+100 pokemon a gen, every gen taking 3 years, that will be the year 2055 and pokemon will be coming up to its 60th anniversary. I hope they will have brought on some more staff by then. I don't know how radical 2055 graphics will be, but I think making the pokemon in 3d just once would serve them well for a long time.
But it's not about effort really. It's about limiting features to make each game different. They don't want you to have a comprehensive pokemon game, they want to make little tweaks so that you buy each different game. So that this is the one with megas, this is the one with dynamaxing, this is the one with Squirtle, and so on. It was bad enough that they persisted with having two versions of the same game every gen, not to mention two remakes, one of which they remade again, twice, now they've come up with a new idea to be even greedier. From now on, there won't be a game where you can use a certain pokemon. You just have to wait until whenever that mon's game is released, which could be gen 11 for all I know. Consume, consume, consume until then.
