The Johto Starters need something more, not gigamax, many Pokemon are getting this treatment and it's becoming less special (not that I cared for this machanic), their gimic should be Ancient Evolution: a split final form that gives back thier second typings:
1. Meganium Grass/Fairy (pentaptera flower and a more fairy like appearance)
2. Typhlosion Fire/Ground (a fiery mane, and three volcano openings down its back)
3. Feraligatr Water/Dragon (gains dark green scale like armour on its chest, arms, legs and head, the blue skin is still visible)
The Sinnoh Starters need a unique gimic based on thier abilities, that is simular to Ash's Infernape:
1. Torterra Ultimate Overgrow
2. Infernape Ultimate Blaze
3. Empoleon Ultimate Torrent
Both accessibile via research with the expert professor as a side quest before evolving into their final form and particular criteria met.
