I took a 4 year break from Pokemon around that time. I was really devastated when NetBattle died and DP came out; I had no money to buy a DS and any of the games. Shoddy never replaced NetBattle for me because I was mostly into RPG and Mafia servers.

In a deep dark autistic shut-in depression hole with every moment spent away from games (mostly, though far from solely, Pokémon) wishing to die.

Wasn't for my mother and brother helping me and imagining missing the next Pokémon games keeping me from actively committing die I'd definitely not be here.

Also, good thing I finally managed to get a grip on myself after my mother died. In the late 2000's I could've never imagined a time where I'd actively have no intention of touching a Pokémon game but here we are and in my late 2000's state of mind I definitely would've killed myself had that happened.

10 years ago, people used to say "entire 2000s decade was shit". Then a few years ago, people were like "well, the EARLY 2000s weren't that bad, at least smartphones and social media cancer didn't exist then". I was pretty much done with pokemon around 2009. Traded in Diamond and sold my other games and DS to cousins. But then HGSS and Platinum came out and, after watching the superskarmory playthroughs, I got back into it.

Personally I frequented a lot of RPGs
Good times but so much unbelievably stupid drama
I used to follow everyone's trail years ago but not anymore, a lot of them went cold anyway, i stopped caring, and on top of it all a bunch of stuff got lost when invisionfree servers got nuked recently
That said I remember a LOT of what happened and I still think about this one guy whenever I see the Eagles play
