The changes are not that radical and you can see them evolve from the same form. Cubone to Alolan Marowak was pushing it. No Pokémon from one type evolves and gets two new types. The color change was jarring too, but ultimately it made sense.
For Galarian Weezing not having a Galarian pre-evo would be terrible. Purple, yellow gas emitting Koffing evolving into grey, tophat wearing, green gas and clear air emitting Weezing. Just make Koffing grey, give it a tophat and change the saturation on the gas. Not much of a change, but less jarring IMO.
