notice how you can't catch fainted pokemon because a fainted pokemon can't willingly submit

also humans seem to dominate the ecosystem in the pokeverse and pokemon are valuable resource so it makes sense that people would make them submit

what is morally adverse is that pokemon battles are used for entertainment, but it is clear in the pokemon verse pokemon are used much more for peaceful endeavors, and battling is just a sport an makes up probably less than 5% of the human/pokemon relationship

Canonically (according to DPPt), some pokémon simply enjoy to fight and they wish to find a trainer who can help bring out their full potential. All the wild pokémon who attack you are actually testing you to see if you are worthy of their time. If you can defeat them and catch them, then you are the right trainer
