Pokémon villains are shit and will continue to be shit as long as the series' worldbuilding stays the way it it.
They try to go in a more story-focused direction but we still have
>no power structure at all (who the fuck are the evil team even rebelling against and why have none of them taken over already?)
>no economy or sense that any action in one region or even town will affect things in another
>no history to any of the regions other than "once upon a time there was legendary"
>no lasting effects to anything that happens in the stories. even BW2 that promised to be sequels to BW don't do much more than "Ghetsis showed up, Ghetsis left, he came back then left again". nothing in the regions changes as a result of Team Plasma's (non-)existence
I'm not saying Pokémon needs to be some lore-heavy Elder Scrolls shit, but can we at least get references to past locations or events beyond "yeah this place/thing exists" or "haha I come from Kanto, isn't that neat"
