Sword and Sheild Theories

No.39819966 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
I do believe I’ve figured out the gym types and order using the Ben Affleck leak as a guide. Just wanted to share some of my own personal theories. Please share and discuss this with the poketubers.

1st gym is grass. Player will also be able to catch a yamper in the yellow fields as shown in the trailer which will help with the 2nd gym.

2nd gym is water. The player will also be able to catch water Pokémon in the area which will help with the 3rd gym.

3rd gym is Kanu and he is fire. Seeing as to how the first two gyms were grass and water, it only makes sense to have fire be the third. Also the player would have access to water Pokémon from the gym before.

This is when I believe the wild area will open up. I believe in an interview, someone mentioned how the wild area opens up after a couple hours and this seems to fit.

4th gym is fairy and is located beyond the dark forest. Why the player passes up the fighting/ghost gym is beyond me, but I assume it has something to do with the story plot. Maybe the player needs a certain endorsement or something first.

The dark forest will be home to poison, fairy, dark, and ghost type Pokémon which will help when battling the 4th gym fairy, and the 5th gym Fighting/ghost.

6th gym is ice. The “Muddy Maze” area located next to the ice region will be home to ground type Pokémon which will help when fighting the ice gym. The player can also catch a duraladon in the area as seen in the trailer. The player can also catch ice Pokémon which will help with the 7th gym

7th gym, dragon. Not only does the city have a dragon head literally on it, but the player also would have access to ice type Pokémon from the gym before which are effective against dragon.

8th gym was the hardest to decipher and I believe it to be Steel. Maybe the Lucario fighting in the first trailer is actually fighting in this gym.

The reason for more static routes is because of the unpredictability of the Wild Area.
