The doomposting has honestly got me a little down. Why don't we list the things we're excited for in Sword/Shield for once?
I'm personally looking forward to the raids. Do you think we'll be able to raid with friends?

I can enjoy/appreciate new Pokemon designs without even paying for the game
I haven't even played Gens 6 or 7 but plenty of my favourite Pokemon come from those gens, I'm sure 8 will be no different

Raids are going to be the first time I bother with a pokémon multiplayer honestluy. Never gave a shit for the meta, but I'm loving the idea of squadding up to take on boss fights.

Raids look alright, but the gym challenge looks the most interesting to me. They seem to be making it into more of an "official" feeling event, and putting more story emphasis on it, which is something I've wanted for a while.

Did they already reveal how'd they implement raiding? Specifically, if you and your friends could just queue up endlessly for raids, the rewards have to be worthwhile and the chance of getting said reward should be hard enough to feel special but easy enough to not feel too grindy.

I'm actually really looking forward to the story for this one. Despite the cutscenes being too long, I genuinely liked SM's story. This one is shaping up to take a lot of notes from that story and look at them in new ways. I'm especially interested in the fact that this is the first time in any game where it seems the League is an integral part of the plot rather than just an excuse to travel.

Black and White played a lot with the League, but ultimately N and his goals were pointed at society as a whole rather than the League itself.
The leaders having a more active role in the story was certainly good though.

This time though, it seems the story IS the League. There's clearly some shit about corruption and darker goals within the corporate sponsoring and commercial nature of the League. The shit is gonna be going down with Leon, Rose, Oleana, Bede and Marnie all having important roles built upon their success within the League.
