Baton Pass is overcentralizing, easy as fuck to do, and basically forces every team to add very specific Pokemon to even have a chance, and even then not every team could even add these options.

No one wants to auto lose right at the team preview screen, and no one wants high level play to devolve into BP vs. BP, hence why Baton Pass got outright banned after they tried three whole years with a dozen complex bans. All Baton Pass does is get stronger with each generation.

Gen 4 Tyranitar was at 58% usage while Gen 5 Tyranitar was at 40% usage. So if you consider usage = viability then Gen 6 was the most balanced generation while Gen 7 is tied for second. I don't understand your question. What do you exactly want? The mon with the best defensive type with decent offence? I guess Skarmory and Magnezone would do. Iron Head would give it additional SE coverage against Ice and Fairy.

So Mamoswine with Earthquake, Iceicle Crash, Iron Head and Knock Off has the widest possible STAB coverage, and the widest possible non-STAB coverage, leaving Normal, Bug and Dark to take Neutral Damage.

Is there any other Pokemon with wider possible coverage?

So thats STAB coverage against Grass, Fighting, Bug, Fire, Electric, Poison, Rock, Steel.

Hawlucha beats out Gliscor by one. It has 8 to 7. Mamoswine has 9 types but fewer pokemon. But it covers allt eh high level metagame.

Which is entirely true.
Hazards have their own sub-meta game and it was extremely apparent in Gen 4 when there were several dozens of different leads with different sets, aimed at setting up hazards, preventing them from being set up, removing hazards, and preventing the opponent from removing hazards.

It’s because if they did that, they would need to do the same for every other Pokemon, then they would need to do the same with what held items a Pokemon is using, then they would need to do the same with what general move sets are used, ect. as more people will just demand that multiple versions of each Pokemon get rated separately.

What makes Blaziken so special that it gets an exception rule while every other banned Pokemon stays banned? The whole point of a banlist is to be a banlist. It affects a wider spectrum than was supposedly intended. It's a messy mechanic.

That isn't his point, he is trying to say that apparently rocks were implemented as a nerf to the various flying types and levitators that were very good in ADV due to avoiding spike, and stealth rocks do this. The problem comes in that they are an unnecessary nerf to ice, bug, and fire types. Who were already pretty bad and affected by spikes.

Though I do doubt that gamefreak thought that deeply about it and knew about the competitive meta and probably just though type based entry hazards were a cool idea.
Personally I don't really want to see the change as I do not really see rocks as a meta negative and whilst complacent I would rather not risk various fat styles getting better and a lot of the mons centered in setting getting much worse.
