Isn't that just because Pelipper outclasses it in OU? That and weather setters are banned in most lower tiers IIRC. It's a massive tier drop but nothing about Politoed actually changed.

If we only count direct nerfs, Talonflame. If you include nerfs through osmosis like mechanic changes, Chansey losing a hundred Special (Attack) from gen 1 > 2, Regice losing tons of defensive ability from gen 3 > 4, and Charizard losing its Megas from gen 6/7 > 8 HAHAHA

Dark Void both not working unless being used by Darkrai AND having its accuracy being reduced to 50.

I'm convinced Gamefreak gave two different people the job to nerf it, they both came up with a different change, and then both of their ideas were implemented at the same time by accident.

The weather abilities were nerfed. Sun and sand teams still had Tyrannitar and Mega Charizard who were strong enough that you'd want to run them despite the nerf, while Politoed kind of became a liability. Then later Pelipper came out, who was a whole lot better at it.

So many pokemon were crippled going from gen 1 to 2. Imagine losing the equivalent to 50BST worth of stats due to the split, and having a crippled crit rate too.

For all that come to mind there, Persian, Tangela, Slowbro, Magneton, every psychic type, a less-discussed robbery in the split is how Seadra seemingly lost half his special defense to allowed Kingdra's stat total to make sense. I'd LOVE to slap an Eviolite on this thing!

Tangela didn't even do that much with it's bulk, it was just really annoying with powders, bind, mega drain, and growth (more Stadium memories), and the lose of growth as a double stat boost took a great deal of wind out that. It could be a huge pain in formats broader than Smogon OU but only in some circumstances.
