Yes, exactly
FE in general has an absolutely incredible amount of fanservice/lewd/waifufag stuff that could discourage people from playing the game, but the core strategic gameplay is still there

I only played the 3 gba games, is it like that in later games as well?
I thought that they kept it, as my friend is playing it, and I saw that even FEH had different colors when summoning depending on the type of weapon your unit used
What is the purpose of having three types of melee weapons now?

Masters already removes immunities (can be understood as most the battles are 3v3 triples) resistances, and pokemon only have a weakness to one type, that's a fucking shitshow

Rosa is the best unit in the game and she's free. And characters like Barry, Misty and Brock are completely fine and usable despite being 3* characters. It's perfectly fine for a gacha game unless you REALLY want every single character, which the issue spans across the entire genre itself as you said.

I'm getting the games still and even I think they're shit. Generally by this point I have a good idea of what nu-mons I want on my team but for gen 8 I just have Chameleon dude,impdimp and corvinight and that's because impdimp is ok, lizard is gonna be my starter and I need to fly. I'm actually gonna box the legend for a dexit survivor because of how much I hate them.

It's still there, but as a perk you can opt to use at a slightly higher skill level with that weapon type. I played FE: Thee houses when it came out, and while there's way more character interaction stuff nowadays, the gameplay sections are still good. They also added some other stuff, so it's not like they dumbed it down.

I don't understand the comparison? If you mean both games are only bought for waifus then you're late on that, Pokemon has been pumping out waifus since gen 3. And in Fire Emblem's case the gameplay is still satisfying strategy, with the waifus and bloodlines only enhancing the experience of managing a kingdom. Pokemon has never been able to add a single interesting mechanic without flanderizing something else.

The weapon triangle honestly doesn't matter late game. What really pisses me off, however, is that Dark Magic not only KEEPS getting the shaft but has never been good outside of NPCs

To add onto it, especially the guy who only played the GBA titles, they also made the triangle absolute ass in fates, by introducing daggers (a welcome addition as a weapon imo) BUT they thought that it'd be a great idea to just fuck it all up by making it into a triangle with the projectile based weapons. I had to straight up google the projectile weapon triangle just to remember. The worst part is, that new triangle also affected the original triangle. So, an axe or club (Birthright had more specialized weapons for thematics, that had other stat changes) was more effective against lances..... and the new daggers/shuriken. But, in tandem, Axes were weak to not only Swords, but, also magic. Bows shared the same weakness and strength against these weapons too.
The triangle was removed in Echoes to be more faithful to Gaiden and it worked wonderfully. Even still, it genuinely doesn't matter in the end.
