Assuming the player is around Level 25 when they challenge the gym, what would be some good Pokemon for the leader to use?
The gym uses three typings -- Normal, Bug, and Ghost. Two mons of each type.
By this point the player should have some decent Normal types, Bug types, probably a few Dark types, and several early game Ice types in their box. If they've done a certain sidequest, they'll have a Mawile too.
Normal types:
Raticate: Decently strong and fast, and is fully evolved (intimidating for an early game encounter), but still manageable.
Girafarig: Surprisingly wide movepool can catch players off guard and force them to prepare a bit more.
Porygon: Basically the same as Girafarig, but maybe too much Kanto.
Bug types:
Scyther: Always a good choice.
Dwebble: The player starts with a Flying type, and Dwebble is surprisingly strong early on. I could even give it Shell Smash to really give the player something they need to deal with.
Ghost types:
Froslass: I want this to be the leader's ace in particular because the gym takes place at the very end of a snowy route.
Mismagius: Really strong contender, especially during the early game. Even a Misdreavus could be pretty tough coming in at Lv25.
Haunter: Same as Misdreavus, but easier to deal with because of his lower stats.
Honedge: The typing alone puts the player at risk of being hard-walled. Plus it's a cool mon.
What mons do you think would fit a gym around this level? I'm trying to avoid giving the gym any Fire/Water/Grass types because the player hasn't had a chance to catch any of those types yet.
