Stuff like the Breeding Compatibility Checker, Egg Checker, Berry Checker, Dowsing Machine, Step Counter, the Friendship Checker and especially the Marking app (which you can use to locate roaming pokemon easily without having to look at the pokedex constantly) were absolutely amazing and handy apps and having all that otherwise hard to know information right at your bottom screen makes stuff like breeding, berry farming, evolving friendship based pokemon and catching roaming pokemon so much less tedious. Other apps like the Type Effectiveness Checker, Latest Caught Pokemon Checker, Calculator, Number Counter, Calender, Clock and Map make the game easier for beginners. And there are the fun apps like Notepad, Coin Toss or Roulette. Overall the Poketch made good use of the DS' touch screen and made something that has use both online and offline.
