Sound = Electric or Flying depending on how the sound is produced.
Magic = Psychic
Virtual = Electric
Light = Fairy (you are clearly a dumbass if you can’t get that)
Cosmic = Psychic

There’s not going to be a new typing. Fairy balanced things out end of fucking discussion.

I used to support the Sound type, but honestly it makes much more sense being relegated to other types, like special normal moves. Fairy was easy enough to retcon in, but Sound would be way too drastic.

Light doesn't equal Fairy you complete troglodyte. Light isn't neither fire, nor electric, not psychic, and specially isn't fairy. Fairy is the mischievous creature type, the pranksters pixie, the cute nature sprite. Light isn't any of that, and I'm surprised that such a common RPG element/staple isn't included in Pokemon, because light by itself represents holiness, the sun (which isn't fire), purity, absolute good.

Types aren't given strictly based on representing a new element, new types have ALWAYS been about balance. If you want to argue why there wouldn't be a new type you'd have to argue that no new type could improve the current balance.

I think the new type should be Bastard.
Fairy didn't need to exist, you could say fairy is just normal/psychic, but it happened anyway. So hear me out.
Bastard could be a type like ghost/dark, but not evil like dark type or dead like ghost type. Just a smug, edgy type for those pokemon that dont fit evil or ghost.
Luxray could be Electric/Bastard.
Limpdick Imp could be pure Bastard or Bastard/Fairy.
Banette could be Ghost/Bastard.
Alolan Meowth could be pure Bastard.
Hypno could be Psychic/Bastard.
There might be a better name for the type, I'm sure gamefreak would pick a weird name, like how bug is bug and not insect, and grass is grass but not plant. maybe they'd pick something like Cunt.
Any ideas on what this type could be good/weak against?

There's a difference between being mischievous or pranksters who do silly things like stealing keys (hmm I wonder which Pokemon does this) like when irl people lose stuff and claim a fairy stole it for fun, only to return it minutes after, and a straight up malicious type. Dark ranges from evil to, yes, doing harmless things but with the intention to annoy or cause troubles to others, which is the main difference. They can be dangerous, deceiving, liars, manipulators, etc. Check any dex entry and you'll see this range. Fairies are nature sprites, pixies, cute beings who are very charming.
Light on own has absolutely nothing to do with all this and if you see how it works in literally any other media you'll see they don't overlap in the slightest.

There will be a new type when GameFreak sees that adding a new type will be viable for hype creation, Fairy didn't need to exist and could've buffed steel and ice to deal with Dragons better.
It is unlike Gen 1 Psychic which actually needed entire types to deal with them.

No it didn't.

Gen 2 only had to introduce actually good bug types (which they did), and good bug moves (which they didn't until later), and introduce more ghosts (which they didn't) and make both types resist Psychic.

Rock or Ice could have also resisted Psychic in case you wanted an extra nerf.

Sound moves are their own thing entirely, they can be everything from Bug Buzz to Hyper Voice to Clanging Scales. The point is that its a move property that interacts with abilities (like Iron Fist and Mega Launcher).

This sounds like the "air type/wind type" argument all over again. Gas in itself has no elemental property on its own; Poison Gas is clearly poisonous, just like Ominous Wind is clearly Ghost and not "wind type".

The opposite is true, actually. Fairy encompasses a broad variety of creatures because what defines a "fairy" can vary greatly across different cultures. Compare the Tapus to something like a Snubbull for example; neither of these are what you would think of as a Fairy but both fit, being a island deity and a cait sith respectively.

What you really want is a "holy" type, which is even more restrictive than Fairy is and doesn't fit in the Pokemon mythos since it has no basis in Western religious dogma.

What did you think fairy types were? Most of the fairies that were retconned in were originally normal or psychic types. In the same way that darkness covers "dark" attributes like underhanded fighting techniques and mischievous behavior along with literal darkness, light can cover heroic figures(which fighting types don't cover), benevolent spirits(which is what 90% of fairies are), and literal light(which are distinct from light producing sources like electric and fire). What the fuck do you even mean by this? Everyone "accepts" fairies because they exist in the game and aren't going to be retconned out, but they're obviously only in the game to justify the creation of more cute shit to sell as merchandise. If Gamefreak wanted to make a new type for balance and design purposes, they could've gone with a wide variety of other types, or simply tweaked the weaknesses and resistances further. The vast majority of any discussion on this forum is going to be headcanon, and the only reason anyone ever uses "well that's not canon" is because they realize they're wrong but still want to come out as the winner.
