Taking Turns

No.39868648 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Does it bother anyone else that some people think that Pokemon actually wait for the other one to attack before starting their next attack?

To me the whole idea of taking turns in rpg games is that it is a way of representing real battles.
From the view of the characters in the game, it is a regular battle with no turns. Maybe they both get in blows whenever they close in on each other to strike. Or maybe there is some other reason that they end up getting a similar number of strikes. People often end up trading blows in real life fights.
But from the view of the player it is broken up into turns so that it is easier for the player to follow and allows more thought to go into each move. It also made sense because technology back then made it so that a turn system was more viable and satisfying for many game concepts than real time battles.

Even the TV shows and movies depict all of the battles without any turns in them. Yet you still find people (like in the pic) that seriously think that the Pokemon all wait turns in the cannon of the games. What do you think?
