Sword/Shield has definitely been in development for longer than we'd probably like to know, Gamefreak definitely knew about the switch and were told to gear towards that. It meant the anime producers were probably told the SM stuff would be pretty short lived and to not get into anything too complicated so the story could be cut off when needed.

He didn't, both Hawlucha and Pikachu defeated Megas without being megas themselves, he just got a not!Mega because Megas were the gimmick of the gen, just like he got the special rainbow thunderbolt Z crystal this gen. Not to mention you could just write Gladion out of the league, nothing says he has to participate, he could have been training in Kanto and Johto (reference to the Ultra games) when the league happens

Not even an edgyventuresfag, how is this a bad thing? He's been the protagonist of the anime for 22 years. They should try some new stuff like they started with in SM by changing up the formula to make it more refreshing or the AU movies

You have Ash walking through a city because somehow they couldn't be bothered to make Alola bigger than what the game had and make it seem like Alola was a part of a world and not some isolated incident.
Ash got the memefrog because everyone else was jumping around with megas. In Alola's they had to make the entire league easy mode and even then they had to throw a mythical for him that according to the previews it's getting btfo early anyway.

The fucking logo Is the same as the AU movies where Ash was the main character, there's a bigger chance of this being his final chapter than to have a complete reboot or a PokeSpe anime. Just like what happened with the latest God of War, Kratos was still the protagonist even if the name was the same as the first game.
