In SPMD I always imagined my character breaking down into tears after Parasect introduces itself like this and Parasect frantically trying explain hes fine. A macob joke gone too far.

The anime shows that a Paras's shrooms can be removed, seemingly without hurting the Paras. But I think removing them would prevent the Paras from evolving. And you probably can't remove them after the Paras evolves, because by that point, the fungus has overtaken the host's body.

I used him as a status inducer in FRLG. Get in, paralize/sleep/poison, then switch out.

Nowadays he's pretty much unusable though. Such a cool mon, such a garbage typing.

Do you people prefer the version where it has the eyes under the fungus or the smiley, googly eyes one?
I think I prefer the creepier version, but having a parasitized, zombified crab with that dumb expression is kinda cute.
