In the past it was based on maps, a single server could have multiple regions if they’ve had to wipe maps for one reason or another.

this, land claiming was always the easiest plugin i've experienced to prevent griefing. really, the only thing that made it gay was when people left and their land stayed claimed indefinitely, but i'm sure that can be adjusted in config.

I've always hated that too. Just make it so land claims can only be a certain size, and have them expire if they player hasn't been on the server for like 30-90 days.

land claim size was usually limited by login time, i.e. you'd go past the 10 hour total time and you'd gain an extra 64 blocks of space to claim, but the plugin never had an expiration for claims by default so most servers would just have random griefed chunks of claims in the middle of nowhere

Alright I got a working claim plugin.

Works simple, costs a daily (real time) upkeep cost, so long as players are active, the upkeep will be paid, if no one who lives in the claimed land plays, then eventually it will become unclaimed and eventually open land ripe for pillaging.

Ooor, just make sure people can't kill each other and implement a backpack mod with lots of storage. That way we can have inventory space and no claims.

the old launcher still works iirc, i was using it not too long ago, but there's technic launcher packs for it and you can stick it in your minecraft yourself if you're feeling saucy
