OP, I had no hope for Sword and Shield. You had to be an idiot to think they were going to be good. When I heard them say that not every Pokémon was going to be coded into the game, do you think it was like a slap in the face to me? No, it was "Oh, it's just another turd in the bucket, why am I even surprised at this point?". People think a game is good based on brand name alone, and Pokémon has been coasting off its good pre-3DS era reputation for years now.
>>39907402I'll give you RS, but RG, GS, DP, and BW were not rushed games. They each had 4+ years of development time. RS had 3 years of dev time, didn't have 180+ Pokémon normally available for a year, had a region half made of water, had next to no post-game, no backwards compatibility, and lacked features found in previous games. But it's obvious that they were rushed out because Pokémon's reputation was fading fast and they needed to stay relevant and couldn't hold off for another year. Still, each subsequent game was an improvement over the last until around BW, but even then that's because BW followed Platinum and HGSS and was followed by B2W2. It's a dip in Pokémon's strongest era.
Anyone who thinks that DP and BW were bad have very skewed priorities and most likely don't actually think about Pokémon as a video game but as a tool for escapism. That's why you'll see people judging an entire Gen based on appearance rather than content and game design. They only want their fictional cartoon animals.
Also, guess how many years XY, SM, and SS had in development? TPC wants 3 year Gens for steadier and faster marketing periods following the DS era.
