It does if you just change its colors. On the other hand, Raticate is a stylized version of a rat with far bigger teeth; it's not identical to a rat.

Ask me how I know you're a filthy zoomer. All the shitty designs in genwun and gentoo andyou're complaining about a great one.
Voltorb actually was 1) based on something that the creators came up with themselves, 2) an actually interesting concept based on the RPG idea of mimics, which also ideally fit the game's world and added a bit more depth to the lore.
But I guess it's not epic humanoid dragon furry enough to be a good design, right? :^)

Yeah, crappy ones as they only work as mimics for the player playing gen 1-2 games, which is fine for then but doesn't hold up now. In world no one would/should be so stupid to mistake almost 2ft to almost 4ft balls as pokeballs or anything other than something suspicious. If you want a better take on a pokeball mimic, look no furthur than Foongus who due to it's size, it's pokeball head actually could, and is in certain instance like the Anime, be mistaken for the object it's imitating.

The fact that Voltorb and Electrode are merely similar to a Pokeball while not being exact replicas makes them believable as creatures. It would be understandable for what is an organic creature (we have to assume as much as it's never stated they're man-made) to have evolved to resemble a man-made object, but looking exactly like one would be taking it a step too far. Foongus and Amoonguss fail in this aspect; by literally having Pokeballs on their caps, they stop being believable as actual creatures and instead start to look more like mascots.
