The main thing in the franchise is stuff I already caught in previous games that I have to pay for a separate app and then transfer months after release? Then why was I able to play RS, XY, and SM right after they released and still enjoy them?

Everyone keeps addressing the face value of the argument when the real problem is it being in a greater pattern of transience; making the games focus on fully disposable gimmick features like megas, z-moves, and gigantamax which aren't disposable in the sense that they can be gotten rid of but disposable in the sense that they WILL be gotten rid of, unquestionably and in less then two gens, rather than just doing the reasonable thing when you've already got a shitload of legacy content which is to refine it until it's fucking spotless. It's first and foremost a temporary consumable now which is meant to not last the test of time by design. Which I guess there's nothing wrong with if the goal is to shift copies, but you shouldn't be so disingenuous about that fact.

It sure is weird how people are accusing me of bad taste when I'm the one who can actually play with dozens of Pokemon in a series about there being dozens of Pokemon as opposed to wanting to use a single special snowflake every single game.
