Theory:

Decidueye was Grass/Dark (makes sense for the stealth archer theme), and Incineroar was Fire/Fighting.
They changed Incineroar partway through development because they realized everybody is sick of that shit, and therefore Decidueye had to be changed too.

Dark types love sneaky stealth attacks.
Decidueye could pass as a dark type 100%, basically a grass greninja.
