Dragon shouldn't even be a type. Bird was changed to Flying for the same reason; it's too specific. As a result we have bird and shark Dragon-types that don't even look like dragons.
I don't hate the type, though - it's semantics. Change the name and it's not really an issue.

Birds are basically the same no matter where you go, but dragons have a completely different appearance and cultural perception when you go to other places. I think dragon is fine.
