It first started as a minor interest when I caught a few in Silver, and it became a full fledged obsession once I got Ruby.
>do you use your coveted pokemon once you get them, are you just collecting them?I always use them. In fact, I almost exclusively use nothing but my Shinies.
When I was younger, I collected them simply for being Shiny and didn't care how bad their stats, Natures, and Abilities were.
Nowadays, a Shiny that isn't (competitively) useable to me is useless and will either be given away or tossed out.
Despite that, I do still own many "useless" Shinies from my earlier years of Shiny hunting.
