Tag team is implemented badly I think and so are GX in general. Double battles should just be a mechanic with two pokemon active on each side which can attack either opponent and perhaps have bonuses if moves have synergy in them. It would allow for deep strategies.
Also why would I build up my basic totodile into a powerful monster with say 160 hp and 80 dmg move if they just play a basic gx with 250 hp and do 130 dmg in one go
they can just heal my measly dmg anyway.
Tag team makes it even worse
Yes I play casually but I wont do soon, characters are overshadowing pokemon and tag team makes little sense
