Sure it's improving. Anyone with two brain cells and hasn't been under a rock knows that graphics for games and movies are likely to improve from what we see in the trailers. But it does not look amazing. It's not a new art direction, it's not a full leap from what we saw in gen 7. It's the next small ass step we all knew they going to take. Is it bad? No. It's standard.

The problem is pokemon fans have been eating literal shit presented on a silver platter as if it were some delicacy for the past decade or so.
If pokemon red came out today (obviously with much better visuals), people would savagely destroy it for being the hot garbage that it is; but it has a legacy which hand waves off literally anything to the pokedrones.
I didn't buy a 3DS for X&Y or S&M because I've grown up and am no longer part of GF's target audience, and I'm sure as fuck not buying a switch to get sword and shilled.
