It's almost like these images are completely useless because they don't actually make a point. Showing two wildly different games from different eras with different standards, made with vastly different budgets on vastly different hardware isn't profound and doesn't prove any sort of point or make any sort of statement, aside from a very general example of how progress has changed certain video game franchises. You can argue that Pokemon hasn't progressed and changed enough with the times but the discussion will always come back to the fact that Pokemon won't change if it doesn't have to. The day it stops making money is the day it will adapt.

If the only thing the game really improves upon is slight tweaks to the animations and more things in the backdrop how much better really is it? The difference between the two is just a matter of preference, and to me the idea of not having messy background "ambiance" (which doesn't even fit the tone of pokémon), or having battles not occur in the overworld is perfectly fine. Many improvements could have been made to the game but that mobile game isn't a good example.

They should've made the transition to 3D many years ago, before releasing Ruby and Saphire. The 3rd installment of the franchise should've been on the N64. That would've given Game Freak more time and perspective on how to work a proper 3D pokémon game by now. But the business model they chose didn't aloud them to learn.
