That's not a new model, the "reused" just has the old textures from sun and moon and the "new model" has updated textures.

Again, The only change to models this generation is the textures.

They aren't. The game just is just able to ender the model at a higher resolution without the garbage outlines and shit lighting the used on the 3ds. You see more detail like with the eyes because it hasn't gotten lost in the void of pixels
