Basically, gf is aware that making certain pokemon unobtainable by any means is bound to generate controversy and essentially split the fanbase into those that accept this decision and those who don’t. At first glance, it may seem counterproductive to alienate a good portion of your consumer base in one single strike like that, but it had to take something of this magnitude to really get people all worked up. All sorts of media outlets targeting gamers have talked about it, in addition to it being heavily discussed on youtube, 4chan, reddit, twitter, tumblr and all manner of individual discord servers. Such a big talk is bound to draw in the attention of people That otherwise would’ve paid little or no mind to the new games. Remember, any sort of press is god press, even “negative” one.
