Kalos will always be my favorite as its literal holographic technology with a tactile interface even though its just a sheet of light. And invented by Lysander of all people. He wanted to destroy the world, but not before providing Quark his holosuites

Kanto is the worst. It looks like a cheap plastic toy. There is no way that hinge will last. They didn't start looking like phones until Unova which has a good one.

My two favourites are Sinnoh and Kalos ones. Though i'm a really big fan of the Rotom-Dex since Rotom is one of my favourite pokemon.

I fucking hate the Kalos one. It looks like it would snap. Definitely not suited to actually being out there in the environment.

I like all the Gen 3-5 ones but HGSS one is my favorite

The first kanto and jotho dex sucks
All the 3 remake ones are good and I'd argue better than the original version
For the rest I'd say Unova>Kalos>Sinnoh but only because I never understood what was the appendage on the right until seeing an episode of the anime where it's used to scan pokeballs
Still find it out of place

Everything before Unova isn't based on a phone, it’s based on the concurrent gameboy design from the time the games came out. The exception being Hoenn, but then ORAS changed it to be MUCH more like the gba.

Original Pokedex has a shitload of clearly useless buttons thrown on to make it look high-tech, it's an endearing 90s design but it's fun because it's ugly.

I like any of the ones that look like real handhelds, because they add a level of self-insertion for the player. >>39943535 is super fucking good, it hits you from both sides with that nostalgia.

Johto 2.0 is the most convenient to actually use, Kalos is the prettiest, specially when opening it ingame. Johto 1.0 has SOUL

Hoenn, HGSS and Unova's look the best because they straight up don't look that much like Fisher-Price toys. The Kalos one wouldn't be too bad if it didn't look like it would completely shatter on impact.

I hate how the Unova Dex looks like a cheap ugly chinese toy phone. I like the ones that look the console's of their games like HGSS Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh. They feel authentic

But most of the dex were based off on Nintendo portable systems so they all weren't bad. The only one that are bad are after Gen 5 with the exception of ORAS.
